Honor Roll of Active and Certified Professor and Guros of
the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System
To set the record straight:
Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa and
Tuhan Mel Lopez have dedicated this web site to the loyal and active members of
the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System . The honor roll of certified
professors and guros listed on this web site have displayed true loyalty and
dedication in teaching, promoting and supporting the system of our late great
Grandmaster Floro Villabrille in accordance with the wishes, rules, regulations
and standards set by Grandmaster Villabrille and his most loyal student
Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa in the by-laws of the Kali Association of American
.
There is no certified instructor,
professor or guro, in the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System who can personally promote his or
her students to the rank of guro. If any professor or guro has promoted a
student to guro on his own initiative then he is in violation of the express
wishes of Grandmasters Villabrille and Largusa. No one is above what has been
granted to us by Grandmaster Villabrille and Grandmaster Largusa. If
Grandmaster Villabrille and Grandmaster Largusa had seen fit not to bring this
system to the public then there would be no Villabrille-Largusa Kali System
. Remember this, Grandmaster
Villabrille stated he did not need the one thousand students. All he needed was
that one student, well trained and well versed in all the aspects of his system,
the physical, the philosophical and the spiritual to carry his system on into
the future.
There is no one out there who can
claim to have had exclusive training with either Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa or
Tuhan Mel Lopez. All students of the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System and the Kali Association of America
have been trained equally.
Anyone claiming otherwise is making false claims.
As set forth by Grandmaster
Villabrille and Grandmaster Largusa in the by-laws of the Kali Association of
America . To be promoted and
recognized as a Certified Guro of the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System a student must:
1 Face a review board consisting of three certified guros
of the system not involved with the school the candidate is training under and
pass the required test set by Grandmaster Villabrille and Grandmaster Largusa.
2 When a student passes the required test, 70% is required
to pass, he or she is then welcomed into the system through the rite of the
Blood Ceremony, performed by the standing Grandmaster and Tuhan of the system
and witnessed by family, friends and the general membership of the
KAA.
3 The student is then blessed by the Grandmaster and Tuhan
and is presented a certificate signed by the Grandmaster and Tuhan certifying
him a guro of the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System .
As set forth by Grandmaster
Villabrille and Grandmaster Largusa in the by-laws of the Kali Association of
America . A guro of the system
is only allowed to open a school of his own when he or she reaches the rank of
guro, lakang doha, and is presented with a teaching certificate signed by the
standing Tuhan. This is to insure the integrity of the system.
Any person or persons claiming to
be a guro of the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System should be able to produce a
certificate signed by Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa and Tuhan Mel
Lopez.
Any person or persons claiming to
be guros, teaching the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System should be able to produce the
Teaching Certificate signed by Tuhan Mel Lopez or his successor.
Any person or persons certified by
the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System
and presented with a signed teaching certificate but not listed on the
Honor Roll of Active Certified Professors and Guros of the Villabrille-Largusa
Kali System has been declared
inactive or in violation of the By-Laws of the Kali Association of America , the operating arm of the
Villabrille-Largusa Kali System .
In 1981, Grandmaster Floro
Villabrille presented to Ben T. Largusa the conveyance of life interest, a legal
document, giving him and his successors the sole right and authority to use the
Villabrille name in accordance with the established rules, regulations and
standards set forth by Grandmasters Villabrille and Largusa and their eventual
successors. No other persons have been accorded that right. The widow of
Grandmaster Villabrille, Mrs. Trinidad Villabrille, has directed the standing
Grandmaster and Tuhan to protect her good name and that of her family from those
who would taint the name Villabrille, by using the name fraudulently and for
their own personal gains. The names Villabrille and Largusa are two of the most
widely recognized and respected names in the Filipino Martial Arts.
There are so called guros out there
who have nothing better to do then to criticize the Villabrille-Largusa Kali
System on the web for whatever
reasons. We dont respond to cowards who hide behind words on the web. We
consider them insignificant.
The Villabrille-Largusa Kali System
and The Kali Association of
America and its By-Laws have
been Trademarked and registered with the United States Government. Anyone using
the Villabrille-Largusa Kali System
name without the
expressed written consent of either Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa or Tuhan Mel
Lopez is in violation of the Trademark Laws of the United States and can have
legal action brought against them.
Our wish is not to threaten anyone
or to prevent anyone from learning or teaching another Filipino martial art
system. We will however, do what is legally necessary to protect the integrity
of The Villabrille-Largusa Kali System and the By-Laws of The Kali
Association of America .
